Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D
Intraoperative 3D Imaging with Virtual Isocenter
Innovative Key Technology.

The Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D combines excellent 2D-image quality with a highly efficient intraoperative 3D imaging module. Intraoperative 3D imaging plays a vital role especially in spine procedures as well as in orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery. This is often beneficially combined with Computer-Aided Surgery (CAS) systems. The C-arm’s intelligent and compact design together with its unmatched ease of use benefit both surgeons and operation staff.

Superior Image Quality 3D Reconstruction At Its Best

Clear View

Running in pulse mode with up to 30 frames/s, the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D produces sharp and crystal clear images. The unique 1k² imaging system with its industry-leading high-dynamic CCD camera enables a detail-rich visualization of even the finest anatomical structures.

Object Detected Dose Control – ODDC

The innovative ODDC software (Object Detected Dose Control) provides image optimization and motion detection in real time at the lowest possible dose. Thanks to smart application-oriented anatomical programs, which optimally adjust the performance to any body region, free object positioning, even at the periphery of field of view and automatic metal correction, the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D ensures excellent image quality, even under adverse conditions.

The Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D rounds out its capabilities by adding a highly efficient intraoperative 3D imaging module.
The powerful 3D functionalities of the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D are an
invaluable help when it comes to checking the accurate placement of
implants, screws and osteosynthetic material. They also provide considerably enhanced precision in bone fracture reductions and joint surface reconstructions in comparison to 2D imaging.
Intraoperative 3D imaging with the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D provides a
previously unknown degree of interventional safety at an impressive
quality level and may reduce both the number of revision interventions
and radiological follow-up examinations through full postoperative visual
control in the OR.

Virtually Isocentric

Smart virtual mechanics

On both Vision² Vario models, a region of interest (ROI) that has been
set once will stay in the image center during the entire isocentric image
acquisition cycle. Thus your everyday clinical workflow is streamlined,
while at the same time the dose exposure of operating room staff and
patients is significantly reduced.

Compact design

Thanks to their sophisticated mechanical construction, our Vision² Vario
units have the compact footprint of conventional C-arms, in spite of their added
isocentric functionality. Thus you can continue to benefit from the superior
mobility that is characteristic of Ziehm’s C-arms, even if your OR
space is scarce.

Variable isocenter

The isocenter can be adjusted to different patient positions, and not vice
versa. There is no need to spend time positioning the patient to the center of the c-arm.

Freely selectable image intensifier/object distance

This feature ensures flexibility during image capture, a larger field of view
and a lower dose to the patient, as the patient can be positioned close to
the image intensifier.

Isocentric cine loop

An isocentrically acquired image series can be replayed as a cine loop.
This ‘iso loop’ conveys a 3D-like image impression, providing an easy
and reliable way for the surgeon to assess the results of an intervention
in many cases.

3D Imaging - Information Gain

A comprehensive range of viewing options, such as isocentric cine loops
from 2D fluoroscopy images, volume views based on volume rendering
as well as 3D slice views and Multiplanar Reconstruction (MPR) make
the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D the ‘third eye’ of the surgeon. An intuitive user
interface provides optimum orientation within the volume and quick setting of the diagnostic slices in the coronal, axial and sagittal plane.
Safe intraoperative control The surgeon is enabled to reliably detect incorrect fracture reductions before completing a surgical intervention and to correct them instantly, if necessary. This minimizes the necessity of subsequent corrective interventions, thus enhancing the patient's quality of life and relieving the hospital budget.

Reduced Radiation Exposure

Caring for the Patient and the OR Team

The Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D uses the most innovative technologies to
keep X-ray dose levels to a minimum without compromising the outstanding image quality.

Application-oriented anatomical programs, the monoblock generator
featuring pulse technology, ODDC, beam-hardening filters and a host
of other carefully targeted functions will help you to achieve substantial
dose savings.

The freely selectable image intensifier/object distance ensures flexibility
during image capture, a larger field of view and a lower dose to the
patient, as the patient can be positioned close to the image intensifier.

Exceptional Ease of Use

Convenient Operation

The ‘Vision Vario Center’, a touchscreen control panel featuring an intuitive
interface with logical user guidance and clear icons, makes the unit extremely easy to work with and provides ergonomic access to all relevant
functions that are needed for isocentric image capturing and 3D image
reconstruction.. The Ziehm ‘SmartEye’ – a live control image provided on
the Vision Center – ensures accurate and unambiguous communication
between the C-arm operator and the surgeon. Users can conveniently
control the entire workflow directly from the C-arm stand and are assisted
by an easy-to-understand software that will guide them step-bystep
through all tasks to be performed.
With a simple keystroke, you can switch from routine 2D fluoroscopy
mode to isocentric or 3D mode anytime during an intervention in
order to retrieve images from the system’s integrated 3D workstation or
to capture new 3D image data.
The Advanced Active Cooling system is able to discharge 400 watts of
heat in clinical operation. Thanks to the clever heat dissipation technology,
overheating during long and demanding procedures is very unlikely.

Seamless Integration - Full DICOM Functionality

An outstanding feature of the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D is the fully integrated
Ziehm NetPort interface, which provides comprehensive support for
the DICOM 3.0 standard and includes options for wireless data transfer.
Running in ‘Primary Capture’ mode, Ziehm NetPort is capable of transferring
original images as well as patient data to and from the PACS and /
or HIS/RIS, thus ensuring lossless digital network integration
Extensive Archiving Possibilities
The Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D is equipped with a broad set of integrated
archiving devices for convenient image storage, including:

  • hard disk
  • USB-port
  • DVD-writer

Images can be saved in DICOM or TIF formats as well as in downsized
DICOM or JPG formats.
Compatibility with the Latest Navigation Systems
Combining the Ziehm Vision² Vario 3D with a Computer-Assisted Surgery
(CAS) system creates a perfect environment for navigated surgical
procedures, allowing surgeons to operate with maximum accuracy and
efficiency. With the new navigation interface ‚Ziehm NaviPort‘ it will be
possible to effortless connect any 3D navigation system to the c-arm.
